It is with great sadness that we inform you all of the sad passing of Chris “Ted” Carroll, a well known member of our sea kayaking community. Many of us will have paddled with him over the years and will have enjoyed his sense of humour, fun & mischief. Always helpful, always great company and always gregarious.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time, especially those who knew him best - the tight knit sea kayaking community in Clare.

Rest in peace big fella, you’ll be sorely missed

Very very very sad news
I had many a good chat with him over the years,
I had many a good paddle with Chris, one great one for me under the Cliffs of Moher, another on a weekend camping trip where me and him "got married" on Mc Daras island...a great fun filled weekend due in no small part to Chris.....
He will be greatly missed and the world is a poorer place due to his passing.
May he rest in eternal peace .

Hey gang,

Just a few words to express our heartfelt thanks to the Irish Sea Kayak community for all their phone calls and words of sympathy prayers and support towards the Clare crew.

This has brought home to me what a close knit community we really are. We are very individual but in a crises be it on or off the water we are one.
Thank you all.

This has been just devastating for Chris’s family and for his friends. There is so much I’d like to say about Chris “Ted” but to be honest my heads not in it. I don’t think there’s any more tears in me but I don’t want to test that theory.

I smile when I think back to the standing ovation Ted got at the Symposium when he was awarded his Level 10 sea kayaking certificate. There was only one Level 10 - There will never be another.

He was a man who had your back both on and off the water.

He was our brother.

He was our friend.

He will be sorely sorely missed.

If it was possible, I think the entire sea kayaking community would attend Chris's funeral. Sadly, given the times we are living in, it is not possible.

So that we can have some 'presence' there, I have ordered a bouquet of flowers from the ISKA community which will be collected and brought to Chris's funeral by one of the local Clare paddlers.

RIP Chris.

Well we gave Chris a great send off on all of your behalf.

Here’s a pic Alan should have framed at home.

Chris and Alan’s Matrimonial kiss on Mason.

Ah, a great memory...so it was Mason, I wasn't sure, thought it was McDaras, so glad that I had the honor of meeting Chris and having some great craic in his company.....I wonder who took that pic......could someone mail me a copy that I could get printed? Might be able to do it from this one, i'll consult with a technician, some young person....
Funny, it is the only time that I have been "married"
