Small sea kayak

My GF is looking at taking up the sport (hooray!) so looking for an appropriately SMALL boat at reasonable cost. She is 5'4" and 52kg. Composite, from the usual stables preferred, e,g. Pilgrim, Romany LV, Isel, Anas etc. Colour not important but a distinct preference for pinks, lilacs , lavende...

Re: Kokatat Dry Suits

I hate to say it, as it is not the individual retailer's fault (VAT, duties, shipping costs etc.), but in Canada (US is even cheaper) you can get the Kokatat Exped. for C$1,130 at MEC.ca (where I got mine) or currently €830 compared to €1,215 (down from €1,350) at e,g. iCanoe . The €385 saving will ...

We are heading to Llancar on the Costa Brava, direct flights from most Irish airports to Barcelona/Girona/Perpignon, (limited) boat hire available. Only 60 places left. Starts 28/3 for 7 days.

Christmas in Cape Town

As luck would have it, we had a week in Cape Town before my contract finished, and came across Kaskazi, a South African Kayak builder, rental and school owned and run by Tracy and Arthur. We joined one of their tourist trips for two hours and had a great Christmas Eve trip off the Cape Town harbour,...

Re: Symposium 2014 - PLEASE READ

My daughter Niamh would like to attend, symposium only, and maybe just on one day, as we live locally, but only if she can cadge a lift. Unfortunately we don't have pay pal accounts. Can she turn up and pay on the day (subject to transport)? In all likelihood she will just want to sign up for the ro...

Re: Hamish Around Ireland 2014 in a Selkie

Poor guy, nothing but NW winds since he rounded Mizen, and the newspapers reported:

“Prevailing winds should be giving me a hand once I round Mizen Head anyway, and I can finally enjoy some tail winds.’

Still, at Clifden, so on the final (and toughest) quarter.

Re: South West Meet July 26/27

We are thinking of starting a day early and doing Crosshaven-Kinsale on Friday. Any details of where and when the Saturday start will be, so we can aim to arrive there Friday night? Forecast from www.yr.no for Kinsale looking reasonable: Saturday 26/07/2014 01:00–07:00 Cloudy. 17° 0 mm Light air, 1 ...

Re: South West Meet July 26/27

Only 2 weeks to go, any more details? Two (non/former ISKA members - long story) willing to give it a try. Your website used to say members of overseas clubs/organizations welcome to attend trips and there were some waiver forms to download on the website. Both members of the Salzwasserunion (German...
