Eastern Seaboard Meet - 29, 30 June & 1 July 2018
Confirming details...
Facebook event page
Either way, camping from Friday evening til Sunday morning...
This east coast meet will take place, in the district of Fingal, North County Dublin with ONSHORE camping in Portrane - thanks to eddieoshea
Basic facilities include free parking, camping, running water & latrines.
There will be some shuttles involved to get to and from the put in and take out points, but with many hands on deck, we shall seek to avoid utter chaos and confusion.
I'm sure we'll find many things to tickle your tastebuds, tide races, islands, wallabies, playspots, rocks, water, Fishes, lighthouses, trips to the Skerries isles, Rockabill, Lambay, Irelands Eye and Howth Head. Don't forget to do some shopping while you're near the big smoke, for those all important kayak accessories and I-Canoe for any small items U may have forgotten! The http://www.greatoutdoors.ie/shop/equipm ... t Outdoors for all your camping and (surprisingly) outdoors equipment are also kindly sponsoring this event.
There is also an opportunity to land, a greeting by Lord Revelstoke & tour of the Lambay Island Castle Gardens, as well as a ramble to take in the views from the NW corner of the isle. A minimum number of participants is required, therefore if you'd like partake of this tour, please pay ASAP the fee to cover the very reduced cost (planned for Sat.30/6/18) at https://www.paypal.me/DaveKayaks/21.10. If you don't want to do the land tour, there will be leaders to continue the circumnavigation by sea.
In order for the logistics department to make some guesstimations and prepare accordingly, please post up, if you are planning to join us.
Exact trip plans to be confirmed closer to the dates, weather dependent etc. Ronan McArdle (the man responsible for getting me into sea kayaking) has 'volunteered' his services to manage, lead & delegate those trips and thanks to my colleagues in ECSKC for also helping to host this meet.
A few ticklers for your tastebuds...
Don't forget your playboat (option for Friday afternoon), I'll lead this myself, if anyone's interested... Malahide Playspot
Wallabies
Lambay island
Baily lighthouse
Rockabill
My Rockabill video (an oldie)
Irelands Eye
Howth (so much info on Howth!)
Skerries

Meeting Point
There's a handful of us camping both Friday and Saturday nights. Let me know if you're planning to do the same.
Saturday night is the BBQ thanks to ECSKC and Margaret who is organising the usual barbecue fare, sausage, burgers, salad. However, if you want a filet mignon, bring it yourself, once the rest of the cooking is done, the facilities are available 4 U 2 use (there's also a SuperValu and village butchers in Donabate if U want to pick up something fresh)
Don't forget your deckchair, something to wash it down with (the food, not the deckchair) and don't forget you're welcome to bring your family too, but please let us know how many are coming. If they want to make a day of it, there's plenty nearby, Donabate cliff walk, http://www.newbridgehouseandfarm.com/ & playground etc.
I've been asked to re-iterate that this is a free weekend, free camping, free paddling and free spot prizes. The only charge is for the Lambay Castle visit, thanks so much to everyone that has paid up front, it's been a great help !
You can of course opt not to visit Lambay, but everybody still gets to paddle, circumnavigate and enjoy your lunch at the front of the island - not hiding round the back!
Tower Bay Beach, Portrane https://goo.gl/maps/tk5fyiMBdV72
Meeting point for Saturday morning is Tower Bay Beach carpark at 1000hrs, <5mins drive from camp. There is a height barrier, but roadside parking available outside or leave your camper/van at the campsite.
Directions to campsite -Once U get to the bustling metropolis of Portrane, keep an eye out for the signs! (Dave 0862639375)

I'll be going. I'll be camping Saturday. I'll avail of the barbecue and tour as well. I'll send the money on later. Should be a great weekend.
Change of plan, Clara and I are staying with margaret on Friday so we'll be camping Saturday only.
