Rathlin Island Massacre by Sir Francis Drake

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rathlin_Island_Massacre.

Spare a thought for Sorley Boy MacDonnell this weekend.

Killing part of, or whole communities in sea caves seems to have been a regular enough ocurrence back in the day. A large number of O\'Boyles, with or without the O, met a more or less similar fate in the caves at Loughros Bay, Donegal.

I quote:
Maghera itself is an enchantingly remote place, dwarfed by the backdrop of hills and glens and fronted by an expansive and deserted strand that extends westwards to a rocky promontory riddled with caves. One of the largest is said to have concealed a hundred people fleeing Cromwell’s troops; their light was spotted from across the strand and all were massacred except a lucky individual who hid on a high shelf.

Small wonder it is then that some of these caves have an eerie feel to them. Any documented haunted ones ?

The devil is in the detail.
\"Cromwell\'s troops\" were sent up to sort them out. Seemingly a certain Bishop Boyle was involved in assisting with The Battle of Kinsale, the march South and again back North. What this assistance was, I have no idea.
