The Opportunity arises to re-visit the whales off Hook Head
if weather & whales permit
or if not - to make the St. Mullins -New Ross-Duncannon trip as an alternative.
Friday night Feb 24th

Bring Sleepmat,Sleeping Bag, Food & drink etc.
Please let me know (via e-mail) if you want that option.
Saturday Morning Feb 25th (Early Start)
Meeting point 08.00hrs at Sandeel Cottages near Hook Head
Whale watching
We need calm weather and of course to know that the whales will still be in the area.
So that will be our first trip option if the opportunity arises.
I will post updates and check out the IWDG website for sightings etc.
Expect to be doing 20km in open sea - no landings out for about 4-5hours.
Option 2
a) St-Mullins - New Ross approx 20kms (Short Trip)
b) St-Mullins - Duncannon Approx 42kms (Long Trip)
Driving to Duncannon to drop cars - then New Ross to drop cars (short trip)
and reaching St Mullins for about 09.30hrs
On water for 10hrs and paddling thereafter.
**It\'s important we start on time as the tide will not wait for us.**
Tide is ebbing all day BUT will stop about 15.00hrs (Slack water)
so for the long trip we have to be past Ballyhack by 15.00hrs
so pressure is on to keep up a reasonable pace.
**Please make sure you are fit for the long trip There is very little stopping - 3-4 times at max. and the slower we are the more the tide will turn against us at the end of the day. You should have done at least a 20km trip in the last couple of weeks and felt good enough to do it again afterwards..
For shorter trip - you will have tidal flow assiting you all the way
and finish at the sailing club\'s slipway in New Ross.
Recommended for those with less paddle fitness.
If you are interested to take part - please e-mail me at

I will send you an info pack and other details.
Thanks
