Course Dates:
• Saturday, 8 to Sunday, 9 June 2013
• Saturday, 7 to Sunday, 8 September 2013
Cost: £126
Course pre-requisites:
Candidates must be able to swim 25 metres wearing a buoyancy aid.
Have experience of paddling both kayak and canoe.
Course summary:
The 2 Star is the next step on the ladder for those who have their 1 star or for paddlers who are keen to develop their foundation skills in canoe and kayak in a sheltered water environment. The 2 Star is also a pre-requisite for those wishing to attain Level 1 Coach boat based.
The course will include coaching in both craft, skills covered will included efficient and effective forward paddling, preventing capsize, moving the boat in all directions in control!, dealing with a capsize in deep water, self-rescue, etc. We will also cover general knowledge relevant to being afloat - equipment selection and maintenance, safety, access, trip planning, environmental considerations.
Who is the course for?
This course is aimed at all intermediate paddlers and for those who are progressing through the award scheme.
The 2 Star is a pre-requisite for those wishing to go on and be a boat based Level 1 Coach.
What does my course fee include?
Full board and accommodation, equipment, in-course transport, and instruction.
For those wishing to be assessed for their 2 Star the course fee does not include governing body administration fee of £5.00
