ISKA affiliation to Canoeing Ireland

Post by iskacommittee » Fri Feb 10, 2017 2:18 am

Individual kayakers can join Canoeing Ireland (CI) at a cost of €30. Kayaking clubs can also affiliate to CI, at a cost of €100 per club. This allows members of affiliated clubs to join CI at a reduced cost of €20.

ISKA has been an affiliated club of Canoeing Ireland up until now. Our affiliation is due for renewal in the next few weeks. However, in October 2016, CI changed some of their rules. One of the rule changes requires all members of affiliated clubs to be members of CI. This raises a number of questions about ISKA's affiliation to CI.

ISKA is an all-island association and as such there are two national governing bodies we have to take into account: CI and the Canoeing Association of Northern Ireland (CANI). We have asked CI for clarification on how this new rule applies to ISKA members in all parts of the island.
