VHF Course Details
Dublin. 19-20 October.
Friday evening and all day Saturday.
This is the Department of Transport SRC modules 1&2 course. Take the exam immediately after the course.
This is a legal requirement if you want to use a VHF radio on a boat.
€210 inclusive of course materials, exam and certificate.
Coastal Navigation Course Details
Dublin. 9/10/11 November 2012
Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday morning.
This ISA approved course is intended to provide you with the skills you need to safely navigate a boat by day and night in coastal waters.
 GPS use with paper charts. Waypoints. Compass bearings. Variation and Deviation.
 Chart plotters: raster and vector charts. Computer and stand-alone plotters.
 Tides, tidal heights. Tidal currents and their effects on passage planning.
 Weather conditions, synoptic charts, weather forecasts. How to avoid weather risks.
 Pilotage. Recognising buoys by day and night. Vessel day shapes and lights.
 Safety at sea. Summoning assistance. Medical Emergencies.
 Limitations of electronic navigation. Rules for Prevention of Collisions at Sea.
 Hands-on practical training on chartplotters. Equipment selection and installation.
