Replace/ fix hatch rim on RM boat

I\'ve managed to crack my front hatch rim (round vcp hatch on Skerray RM). The base section is cracked almost 1/2 way around so I\'m presuming replacement rather than repair.

Any recommendations on how to to attach a new rim (or fix if recommended)? Is there some specialised marine sealant that will stick plastic to plastic? The hull material is polyethylene I think.

Hi Pat, yes, replacement is needed. Sikaflex is the sealing compound but the problem is getting the old rim off.
I\'ll have a word with Valley on Tuesday and see what they can do.
A short term but effective fix is to break off the rest of the rim, push the hatch cover half way in and seal with duct tape. The hatch cover has two \'lips\' - one at the top and one at the bottom. When you push down the hatch cover so that the broken edge is between these two \'lips\' it forms an effective seal. Sounds crude but it works!
